Favorite Etsy Vintage Shops (First three of them)

When I'm not spending my freetime in the fleamarkets, I'm most likely home nerding away in the internet, and this time nerding really doesn't mean hard studying..:D Mostly reading other blogs for more inspiration, or searching through amazing second hand sites, like Etsy.

Etsy is mainly a forum to sell your handmade goods, but it has such a wide range of addictive vintage shops from around the world, selling everything you can only imagine to find in in your local fleamarkets or second hand stores, from old porcelain and furniture to the most wondrous full skirt cocktail dresses and vintage lingerie. And I'd love to let you in on some of my favorite stores.......

Here's the first three of them, a hard pick since there's so many of them I like. More to come.. Beautiful presentation of the products, reasonable prices to the quality and the condition, wide range of products, and worldwide shipping is what they all have in common. Many of them sell not only vintage, but carefully chosen selection of clothes and other goods, from actual vintage to the best of the early 90's.

Teaparty with a twist

Last Friday was my birthday, and though I wasn't gonna really celebrate it, somehow I found myself in the middle of last minute theme party planning..With a little incitement and help from a dearest friend, who loves teaparties and Boardwalk Empire TV Series, we came up with a theme inspired by the 20's-30's, tea & champange. (And some iceteapunch.....) So on the Saturday evening we listened to old jazz, ate too much everything good, and made charleston styled headpieces. I also tried to do old Hollywood style nails, but I think I need a little more practise..or a lot. Love those girls. <3 (There were our guys also, but as they weren't so interested in making headpieces, they aren't in these pictures..)

Inspiration of the Day: Missed Connections

This morning's inspiration is those akward little messages on personal classified ads, also known at least in UK as the "lonely hearts columns". Sophie Blackall has taken these ads to another level, by illustrating New York City's Graigslist ads. I think they're so special and took me right by the heart. You can see them here: Missed Connections (A lot of advertising on the new book at the first site.) I think an hour or two just disappeared (It´s my day off, or two since I had yesterday off too, yay:)), reading the ads and looking at the most beautiful illustrations, and listening to soft morning music from Spotify. This time "New wild everywhere", a new album by Great Lake Swimmers.

Thrift Finds: Something new something old

Yesterday was the perfect Sunday, good food, movie, just hanging around the house, and few hours well spent in a fleamarket. Here's some of the thriftfinds, a couple of them from earlier visits to that same place:

A new wallet for me, cost 0,50 euros and has the most beautiful red inner draping! Love it.

New shoes! The Dr. Martens's are an earlier find, for 3 euros. The ladies old finnish vintage Aaltonen shoes are such a good find my friend made, and I was so lucky to have the right size feet for them. Thanks Anna! <3 They cost also 3 euros.

A black Levis jeans jacket for my husband, we've tried to find this for so long, so this really made his and my day! This came with us for 10 euros.

This is an earlier find also, made my heart pound when I found it. Vuokko Nurmesniemi's a-line coat, it was a little too big for me so I took it in a little bit. This cost originally 25 euros, but was on sale for -50% so I got it for 12,50e.

I've been trying to find this kind of smaller glasses for so long, so I'm so happy for these also! I found many good ones earlier but never many enough at the same time, so these came home with us this time. Actually everything in the background are thrift finds also! A couple of old Finnish trays (Grazy about them!), a Sagaform planter, and Aarikka's red- and whitestriped tinbox. Did I mention I love thrifitng?! :D

Vintage Finds: Black fifties polkadot wiggle dress

This lovely 50s black wiggle dress, with cream white dots, was my first (but definitely not the last) Etsy-find from the States about a year ago.. Or maybe two, but who counts. :) Etsy is a very dangerous place for a vintage lover, since it's so easy to buy anything from anywhere in the world using Paypal. A couple of klicks and it's yours..whatever it is you have convinced yourself you just can't live without. This dress caught my eye with it's curvy shape and "not from the mass producing line"-polkadot print. Buttoned all the way down with rhinestones, a couple of them missing though, it was a beauty. And mine. I was little anxious about the fit, the dress was in US and the sizing in inches, but when it came it was just perfect! I haven't found matching rhinestones for the buttons, so I don't know if I'll have to replace the original buttons with new ones..

More vintage finds to come, not only dresses, and couple of them from Etsy too. Would you like me to do a post about my favorite Vintage Etsy-shops? (You meaning all of my two or so readers:D)

Early morning tomorrow, so now good night!:)

Inspiration of the day: Hellooks Styles

Not being that interested in the latest fashion, I get my inspiration from people I meet, or see in streetstyle blogs, lifestyle magazines etc. Often they are people that represent a certain lifestyle through their style, and that's what makes them special. I never copy anybody's style, but get ideas how to use my own wardrobe more distinctively. Hellooks is one of my favorite streetstyle blogs, not just because it's Finnish, but also for they bring forth all kinds of people, not just those seemingly effortless classy kinda women and men. This doesn't mean I don't follow those "upper class" streetstyle blogs also, though, you can get something out of every kinds of looks..

Here's some badass Hellooks styles I love.

Jenni, 26
Ninni, 27
Ilona, 24
Mira, 20
Susu, 28 ja Juho, 29
Kaisa, 22
Laura, 26
Ines, 16
Virve, 29
Minna, 33
Very different styles, but each outfit had something that caught my eye..colors, shapes or the just whole ensemble! :)

Good Friday

Wonder why the hell Easter Friday is called Good Friday? I'm an atheist and don't celebrate Easter as religious holiday, but that sounds twisted to call this friday "Good Friday" when christians believe it to be the crusifying day.. Well anyway, to me yesterday really was a good Friday, a day spent with friends, doing stuff you love is hardly never a bad day, eh? :) We had a late brunch with Tuomas and Salla at their home, then went to a what you could maybe call play date for dogs. That was a real hullabaloo with about ten dogs in one house! You can only imagine. Ulver is a bit shy with many dogs at the same time, but when he got outside alone with one of the bitches, he was one happy dog! They chased and play fighted each other till it got time to go home. We weren't planning a night out, but our friends were going to see a gig in Lutakko..so we got a bit intrigued, since we'd been both home for the whole week. Guess how the evening turned out?

(I really don't like the line between the pictures, but it comes for the template and it messes my head really bad now. I was supposed to post this Saturday morning, but the form of the template keeps fucking my pictures up! I even had to leave couple pics out, from the brunch and later evening....... I have to figure this out, since I love the layout of the template, so I wouldn't want to change it.)
